Monsy's Zen Garden
My high school English/Journalism teacher, Montserrat Fontes, used to keep a zen garden on her desk in her classroom where she kept a rolled up dollar, out in the open. I guess it was one way she showed her students that she trusted them. I was playing with the idea of doing something similar in the public library where I work to build a feeling of trust with the kids. Then, I remembered, all the kids know where are cars are parked. Good enough.

My wills and trust professor tore up a dollar bill during class to make the point that parents can spend their money any way they please while alive and their children have no cause of action against them.
It was a gimmick, but it made the point in a vivid manner. Every once in a while, he'd need to make the point again so he kept the pieces of dollar bill in the drawer built into the classroom's podium.
Halfway through the semester he went to get his torn-up dollar bill and someone had stolen it.
Bastards.
They should have left a note:
Dear Dad,
We have had the county declare you mentally incompetent. Your dollar is in a safe place.
Love,
The Kids
